For 45 years, we have worked with our clients to create a piece of jewellery truly unique to their vision. Over those years, our studio has created custom jewellery for all occasions, moments and celebrations. Each custom project is different, whether it starts from a design the client has created or designing a piece around a gemstone brought to us.

Our skilled designers ask the best questions to translate your answers into a concept and meaningful design. We keep this simple by taking you through a step-by-step process to create a one-of-a-kind, studio-made, fine jewellery just for you. Custom work can involve choosing a perfect unique gemstone to set in one of our signature designs, or envisioning a piece from scratch with each detail up to you.

Our Custom Design Process

Step One: Design Consultation

Schedule a free design consultation with one of our in-store designers. In the 45 to 60 minute appointment, you will discuss your inspiration, the desired look, what materials will be used, and how much it will cost. We love discussing diamonds and gemstones, too. We will answer any and all questions you come with - we’ve heard it all!

Although we prefer to meet in-store to get to know you in person and show you other pieces we’ve made, you may start the process of design through e-mail or phone.

Step Two: Design Presentation

Our designers will do what they do best! Taking all of your consultation notes and concepts, they will create a number of sketches to show you. We will merge elements of designs together to create perfect balance in the design of your piece. You may select gemstones from our collection or we can order choices for you to peruse. Once a design is finalized, including any gemstones, a cost and timeline estimate is provided. At this point, a design deposit fee is required to take your design to the next step.

Step Three: Render & Models

From the designer’s sketch, we will create the design in CAD (Computer Aided Design) and present a realistic render with gemstones in place and metal of your choice. These renders will be sent to you for approval or changes. After design approval, we will print a 3D model in wax. These models are delicate, but you will be able to come in and see the scale and intricacy of the piece, and your chosen stones can be placed in their settings for your consideration. At this design approval, we then ask for a deposit of 50% of the total project cost.

Our in-house casting studio is where we cast & create every custom piece by hand.

Once the plaster is removed, the pieces in metal are removed from the base and go into the finishing stage by our goldsmith. The goldsmith will polish the surfaces, assemble parts, and set the gemstones.

Final finishing touches include hand engraving, matte or satin textures, or plating the metal with a special finish.

Step Four: Hand Casting & Finishing

The wax model is used in a process called “lost wax casting” to create the gold, silver or platinum piece. The wax is secured in a flask and plaster is poured around the model. The flask is then put in a kiln at high temperature for several hours for the wax to burn (or is “lost”). Then, our ethically-sourced gold is melted and poured into the plaster cavity.

“The amazing staff at FireWorks will make you feel like family.
Designed two custom pieces with them and they turned my vision into a stunning reality!

“Our experience at FireWorks Gallery was wonderful. We went to the shop to design my engagement ring and the lovely Catherine helped us. Everything was so easy, no pressure to buy because the focus was on helping us create exactly what we wanted. And we did!

While the ring was being created Catherine sent updates via text because we’re from out of town. This made it even easier for us since we didn’t have to make a lot of trips into town.

Fast forward to the ring being ready.... it was everything and more than I imagined! It’s perfect, I couldn’t be happier!!!

If you need a jeweller this is the gallery to go to.”

“My partner and I found ourselves perusing FireWorks’ incredible collection. We were curious about ring designs; something akin to wedding rings - a symbol of our commitment to one another. Modern love rings.

There were elements I loved about many of the different artists’ pieces, but I didn’t find a piece that had it all. Before you know it, we were working with designers in the showroom who listened attentively and came up with one-of-a-kind rings that embodied our personalities, preferences, and dreams. I’ve never been so delighted to wear something that feels so me!”
